Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a low budget city break. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. You couldn't get much closer to Placa de Catalunya - ideal for the airport shuttle bus, and reasonably quiet considering it's right in the centre of Barcelona.

The staff were excellent here at the hotel. Claudi the guy at the reception was very helpfull and spoke good english. And the other staff were alway smiling. I felt like I was staying at a friends house.

This hotel is in a superb location - close to the heart of all the city life - and run by a very pleasant family. It is ideal for anyone taking a city break for up to a week who wants convenience and a decent room without any particular frills.
The rooms aren't particularly spacious although sufficient.

It was a hotel with character. Also, it was very clean and recently renovated. The person in the reception was very very nice and serviceminded.
You could hear the noise (traffic) from the streets.

Friendly staff, excellent location, clean rooms, brings you right into the heart of the great city of Barcelona.
No complaints. Some might have a quibble about the noise from the street, but you're high enough up, and you can close the window. It caused us no bother.

The Hostal is cosy & warm, with "homey" ambiance. Host is helpful & friendly. Location is great. Free wifi too. Great place to stay to wander around the city. Near to the metro stations & bus stop with direct bus to airport.

Really friendly greeting on arrival. The Fontanella was excellent value for money and was just 5-10 mins walk from Placa Catalunya which is where Las Ramblas starts and you can also catch the "Bus Touristic" from here as well. The nearest metro station to the Fontanella is Urquinaona which is a minutes walk away. The room we stayed in was number 2 and the decor was modern and clean. The Fontanella was nice and quiet. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We would definately stay again and have already recommended to loads of friends and family.

within short walking distance to Placa Catalunya (for airport bus) and also Las Ramblas. very good location. There are many eatery & cafe around Fontanell and the Urquinaona metro stop is very close by to get around.

The staff was very helpful and available at any time. I had a precious advisory about the different sites that I planned to visit. The single room I took, was okay ; clean, fonctional and cosy. I advise that hotel for travellers who are looking the visit of the city.
There is some problems with soundproofing but that's not noisy enough for sleep.

Really horrible... It's cleanand good design.. But absolutely uncofortable..It'ss family hotel.. Small hall and a few roms for guests and apartment for family.. From whom.. A lot of noise at the day.. From dog, kids, smells from kitchen..the doors to room I stay very old and didn't close properly. I couldn't rest at day because of that noise. Absolutely non comfortable very small for quests.. Where it's impossible to stay more than 1 persone.. Actually the hall works only for one person with no bags.. If another person come - will be a problem..Another problem - window to very busy street with lot of cars never calm the stuff was very friendly... Smiling.. But 5 min after check- out (12.05), when I still was at room seemed they were really disapppointed to have a guests And the price.. For this hotel doesn't appropriate. When I asked late check-out till 5pm, they proposed me to pay 50 euro (price per day 70 euro)

Single room was very small and no area to relax, but not expected generally for single short stay room.
